From birds of prey to the tiniest bird of them all - the hummingbird - Kate Griswold captures the beauty, resilience, and spirit of these creatures through her lens. Witnessing the everyday struggle of animals and birds to survive against challenging conditions and predators in the wild, she has gained a deep appreciation for their innate drive and adaptability. Her avian portraits incorporate painterly backgrounds which encourage viewers to see these creatures in a different light and connect with their unique stories. Griswold’s current work pays tribute to the remarkable strength and enchanting charm of hummingbirds - minuscule beings that remind us of the extraordinary power of endurance found in the natural world.
This is Griswold’s first exhibition at Gladstone.
